Power Book III: Raising Kanan has almost arrived on American network Starz. This will be the second of the spin-off shows to come since Power ended in early 2020. This time around, the spotlight will be on Kanan Stark (played by Curtis Jackson) and what led him to be the violent drug dealer he grew up to be.
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from the Power franchise.
What is the theme tune for Raising Kanan?
One of the initial attractions of the original Power drama, besides from the storylines and intense characters, was the theme song.
The opening credits music for the six seasons was Big Rich Town, a hit song performed by R&B artist Joe along with Power’s executive producer and Kanan actor Curtis Jackson.
He is probably better known as rapper 50 Cent so has plenty of experience creating music.
The song had remained the same since the beginning of Power so fans weren’t happy when it was changed in series six.

Jackson had decided to create a remix version of Big Rich Town for the final season.
This version was sung by Trey Songz and featured a verse from A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie but after a poor reaction from viewers, the theme tune was changed back.
Taking to Twitter, Jackson joked: “This next episode of POWER is my directorial debut 603 so I’m a put the theme song back alright…we cool again or what?”
To tie the two shows together, the same theme tune was used for the first of the spin-offs.
Part of the Game was released by G-Unit Records in January 2021 to tease the upcoming drama.
The theme tune samples some of Keni Burke’s 1980s classic Risin’ To The Top.
This will tie in with Raising Kanan which acts as a prequel to the original Power series.
Whereas the story was about James “Ghost” St Patrick (Omari Hardwick) previously, this time around it will be all about Kanan Stark.
