Italy vs Switzerland – Euro 2020: Live score, team news and updates

LIVE: Italy vs Switzerland – Roberto Mancini’s men aim to become the first team at Euro 2020 to secure a place in the knockouts as they face Granit Xhaka and Co in Rome

Italy can become the first team to clinch a place in the Euro 2020 knockouts with three points against Switzerland on Wednesday night – with Roberto Mancini’s men seeking two wins from two.

The Azzurri kicked off the Europe-wide tournament in Rome last week and made a real statement by thrashing Turkey 3-0 in the capital. Now they have a chance to take that momentum into the game against the Swiss and secure their spot in the next round already.

The Italians have three points in Group A – and could even top the standings by the end of play should they win and Wales fail to beat Turkey.

Switzerland drew 1-1 last time out against the Welsh and looked dangerous at times, with forward Breel Embolo a real handful up front – and Italy will be wary of the threat they pose. Having caught the eye with their impressive style of play in the opener, Italy will be looking to deliver another performance that shows they are one of the contenders to lift the trophy.
