As beautiful and miraculous and fulfilling as pregnancy can be, it can also be completely terrifying. I’m assuming. Comedian Ilana Glazer—best known as one half of the Abbi-and-Ilana comedy duo on Comedy Central’s Broad City—plays on those anxieties in her upcoming dreamy A24 horror film, False Positive, which is set to premiere at Tribeca Film Festival on Friday and will begin streaming on Hulu on June 25.
Glazer, who is currently pregnant herself, co-wrote the script with director John Lee. She also stars in the film as Lucia “Lucy” Martin, a woman who has been trying and failing to get pregnant with her husband Adrian (Justin Theroux) for months. It seems like all of her problems have been solved when Adrian gets her an appointment with a highly sought-after fertility doctor, Dr. Hindle (Pierce Brosnan). But it isn’t long before Lucy starts to get some distinctly weird vibes from Dr. Hindle, and his entire operation. Unfortunately, it becomes increasingly clear that Lucy has very little power in this situation, despite the fact that the entire “situation” is her body. The patriarchy strikes yet again!
You’ll still have to wait a few more weeks to find out what exactly is going on in this ominous fertility clinic, but for now, you can check out the above clip from the movie exclusively on Decider.
In the clip, Lucy and Adrian visit Dr. Hindle’s clinic for the first time. Despite the creepy, Nurse Ratched vibes of the nurse who checks them in—played by Boardwalk Empire‘s Gretchen Mol—the soon-to-be parents don’t yet suspect anything is awry. Quite the opposite, in fact—Lucy is impressed by how quickly the nurse updates the name on her form from “Lucia” to her preferred nickname.
