Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak mourns the loss of his family dog of 12 years, Stella: ‘She was a good friend’

Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak mourned the loss of his family dog of 12 years, Stella, at the conclusion of Monday’s episode.

‘We recently had to say goodbye to Stella and it was a very sad time for the Sajak family,’ the 74-year-old presenter said on the longest-running syndicated game show.

‘But we wanted to salute Stella by showing you happier days. [In this picture,] she’s out there with the ceramic dalmatian and me and there’s [a picture of] the big pair together there. And we’re going to miss her. She was a good friend.’

Coincidentally, Pat’s co-host Vanna White also has a pet named Stella the cat.

After getting personal, Sajak (born Sajdak) received sincere condolences from several touched fans on Twitter.

‘I don’t usually cry during Wheel of Fortune,’ Twitter user Daffodil admitted.

‘But here we are. #stella #wheeloffortune.’

Another user called Sarah Gage tweeted: ‘Um woah my dog just passed away Friday & tonight Pat’s talking about his recently deceased dog too?’

Luckily, the three-time Daytime Emmy winner has his 26-year-old daughter Margaret, who’s employed as Wheel’s online media correspondent, to cheer him up on set.

The pretty Princeton graduate is also a country music singer and she’s currently enrolled in law school.
