Hipgnosis Songs Fund has snapped up the music catalogue of a Grammy Award-winning songwriter and producer behind some of Lorde’s and Taylor Swift’s biggest hits.

He co-wrote and produced her break out song Royals, which reached number one all over the world in 2013.

Little – who is also from New Zealand – has worked with Ellie Goulding and co-wrote and produced three singles on Taylor Swift’s bestselling 2019 album Lover.

His catalogue of 178 songs made more than £3million in 2019.

It is the latest in a string of deals struck by Hipgnosis. The music investment fund, listed on the FTSE 250, was started in 2018 by music industry executive Merck Mercuriadis.

Little’s songs are some of the most-streamed of the last decade.

They have amassed more than 15bn streams globally.

Mercuriadis said: ‘Joel is one of the most important songwriters in the world today.’
