The Republicans stand a strong change of winning back the House after cutting the Democrats majority from 35 seats to just nine in last November’s elections. Party strategists believe that their best chance of success lies in attacking Joe Biden’s huge spending plans involving trillions of dollars. However, GOP lawmakers increasingly believe that Mr Trump could undermine their campaign as he makes a return to the political stage.
The former US President is planning to hold a series of rallies for his supporters in early June.
Party insiders fear that he will use the rallies to continue to push his unfounded claims about voter fraud, as well as to settle scores against his political opponents.
A senior Republican aide told Politico that if the party prevails in next year’s elections, then its success will owe nothing to Mr Trump.
“If we win the majority back in 17 months, it’s going to be in spite of Trump — not because of Trump, ” they said.
“He will totally take credit if we win the House back — but it won’t be because of him.
“This guy is a disaster.”

“Some of these ‘dead people’ even applied for an application to vote.
“This is just one of the many fraudulent aspects of the 2020 Presidential Election.
“People are just now beginning to understand!”
