Chris Packham's stepdaughter Megan McCubbin speechless after disruption amid show farewell

Chris Packham, 59, was joined by Megan McCubbin, 25, to host a recent live stream for The Self-Isolating Bird Club (SIBC) as they bid farewell for the last episode of the series. The Springwatch presenters were left stunned after the pair were interrupted by two Osprey birds mating.

Taking to Twitter, Megan shared a clip of the moment from their show which left her in shock.

In view of her 43,100 followers, she tweeted: “What a way to finish 1yr+ of broadcasts on @SIBirdClub.”

During the closing segment of The Self-Isolating Bird Club, Chris spoke to their guest from the Birds of Poole Harbour charity before an on-air disruption.

He began: “Bringing us all up to date, for those that haven’t been following us as diligently as they should have on social media and your platforms. Tell us what’s happened?”

As their guest was about to respond, Chris and Megan were in for a shock during their livestream.

“Oh, the [Osprey] has returned. Perfect. Just on cue,” Megan said, as they showed the bird alone in her nest.

Within seconds a male osprey flew into the nest and jumped onto the bird’s back to begin mating.

“Oh, yes,” Chris chuckled.

Their farewell post read: “91 broadcasts and many more hours later, The SIBC has finally come to a close.

“THANK YOU to everyone who joined in and sent us their pictures, videos & more during this pandemic – it has been an incredible honour to share The SIBC community with you.”

Fans flocked to comment on the post, as they thanked the team for keeping them entertained during lockdown.

One wrote: “Thank you to everyone involved. I’ve loved watching the episodes, learned loads and laughed a lot. Especially at the bickering between the hosts.”
