Lucifer season 5b theories: Chloe Decker gains celestial powers as fans spot key Cain clue

The next eight episodes of Lucifer’s fifth season are just a few short weeks away and Netflix subscribers are gearing up for an epic battle between good and evil. After catching up on the story so far, some fans believe a key moment from the show’s original run on Fox could dramatically affect the outcome of Lucifer (played by Tom Ellis) and Michael’s upcoming brawl.

A new fan theory has predicted Chloe Decker (Lauren German) will play a major role in Lucifer season five’s upcoming war.

The latest trailer for the ongoing season has teased an all-out war for the throne of Heaven between Lucifer, Michael and their father, God (Dennis Haysbert).

Lucifer will need all the help he can get to take back control, and will of course enlist the services of his angelic brother, Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside).

However, some viewers were shocked to see the mortal Chloe standing amongst the celestials in the climax of the show’s recent teaser.

While it’s suspected the powerless human will simply stand by the sidelines while her celestial cohort duke it out, a new theory has come to light that suggests otherwise.

Thanks to her mysterious blessing from Amenadiel at birth, some fans are sure Chloe will eventually develop supernatural abilities of her own.

Although the concept of one of Lucifer’s mortal friends developing powers is unlikely, viewers have pointed towards the series use of ‘self-actualisation’ as a way of explaining her newfound skills.

One viewer took to Reddit to explain the theory after spotting a pivotal moment from Lucifer’s adversary Marcus Pierce/Cain (Tom Welling) from the third season.

As both Cain and Chloe have both received blessings from Amenadiel, this fan thinks the diligent detective could follow suit and develop her own protection from the incoming horde of angels.

They continued: “Since Chloe (just like Cain’s mark) was a result of a divine intervention, is it possible that Chloe self-actualized some kind of power to be able to fight against angels?”

Several fans hit back in the comments to remind the original poster that, while Cain was able to remove the mark by performing a selfless act, he wasn’t able to develop any other abilities.

One viewer remarked: “Humans do not self-actualize. They can’t change any physical or physiological aspect of themselves.”

“Cain was a human. He had no power to remove his mark. His curse was made to be lifted once he made a selfless act.”

Even so, Chloe has already demonstrated she may be a little bit more than human thanks to her connection with Lucifer.

If the detective is able to render him vulnerable and accidentally steal his mojo, she may be hiding even more secret tricks up her sleeve in the coming episodes.

Lucifer Season 5, Part 2 will be released on Friday, May 28 on Netflix.
