7 Shows To Watch Like ‘Invincible’

Another comic-turned-series that should be on your list is The Umbrella Academy. It has a fascinating premise where dozens of women around the world give birth at the same time after showing no signs of pregnancy. Seven of the children born under these extraordinary circumstances are adopted by a billionaire dubbed “The Umbrella Academy” due to their special abilities. One member of the superhero team travels in time and predicts a global apocalypse, which drives most of the first season.

‘Harley Quinn’

Harley Quinn follows the eponymous character through the fallout after her breakup with the Joker. After realizing he doesn’t love her, she ends the relationship and strives to prove herself as a villain. Kaley Cuoco is fantastic as the voice of Harley Quinn and the show has received critical acclaim for its dark humor. It’s the ideal show if you love the DC comic universe, but are ready to watch a show that centers a powerful woman (it’s about time!).

‘The Tick’

If you’re looking for a more character-driven comic book adaptation, The Tick will be right up your alley. The 2016 series follows the impenetrable superhero and his anxious sidekick, Arthur. The pair discover that a supervillain thought to be long-dead, “The Terror,” may still be alive and at large. Arthur seeks justice after The Terror led to the death of his father when he was a child, falling into a conspiracy theory that turns out to be founded in truth.

Doom Patrol follows a band of gifted misfits who acquired their powers through tragic circumstances. The Doom Patrol is shunned by society and take refuge in a mansion owned by the Chief, a doctor who promises to protect them from the outside world. ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’

If you’re a fan of Arrow and The Flash, you need to watch meta comedy spin-off. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow follows a similar cast of Arrow-verse superheroes, while also introducing new characters. As the name suggests, Legends of Tomorrow follows time-traveller Rip Hunter in his efforts to prevent an impending disaster. It took a few seasons for Legends of Tomorrow to find its groves, but has received critical acclaim in the past few years and is now airing its sixth season.

‘WandaVision’

If for some reason you missed the well-deserved hype around WandaVision, close all your other tabs and open Disney+ right now. Set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it follows Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a. the Scarlet Witch, and Vision after the events of Avengers: Endgame. The series moves through several decades in the form of a sitcom. The show is brilliantly orchestrated and touches on themes of grief, loss, and denial. Even if you aren’t a big comic or superhero fan, WandaVision is accessible and a must-watch.
