From walking down the aisle to walking the red carpet.
Riz Ahmed and his wife Fatima Farheen Mirza made their red carpet debut as a married couple at the 2021 Oscars in Los Angeles on Sunday.
The “Sound of Metal” star, 38, was seen walking with his arm draped around the 30-year-old novelist as they posed for photos together.
While Ahmed kept his look simple with an all-black suit and coordinating black shirt, the “A Place for Us” writer went a more colorful route in a light blue gown and red heels.
As they made their way down the red carpet, Ahmed was seen sweetly fixing his wife’s hair before they posed for pics together.
A fan tweeted a clip of their loving moment, writing, “I will never forgive E! for cutting away from this adorable moment between Riz Ahmed and his wife Fatima Farheen Mirza!!!! #Oscars”
“This is so loving,” one person commented on the clip.
“Relationship Goals,” added another.
Ahmed revealed in January that he was a married man but did not immediately reveal who he had wed right away. Days later though, the actor confirmed he and Mirza had tied the knot.
He explained on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” that he did not intentionally keep their wedding a secret, saying at the time, “It’s a weird one, isn’t it? I guess because we live in a social media age if you don’t, like, get on the megaphone about stuff it’s like, it’s a secret — but I never know how much is oversharing.”
He added, “Like, I’m into matcha lattes, but that’s just never come up. I’m not a secret matcha latte drinker.”
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the couple had an intimate wedding ceremony.
“Obviously, kept it super intimate, and socially distanced. There was just like, hardly anyone there really,” he had told Fallon. “We did it in a backyard, which is nice in lots of ways. And I think the nicest thing about it was you didn’t have 500 aunties hanging around you, pinching your cheeks. No disrespect to the aunties.”
The pair initially met in a New York City coffee shop while Ahmed was filming “Sound of Metal,” for which Ahmed has been nominated for the 2021 Oscars Best Actor award.
