RB Leipzig 'will demand £17million to part ways with Julian Nagelsmann' this summer

REVEALED: RB Leipzig ‘will demand £17m to part ways with Julian Nagelsmann’ this summer after he was touted as Hansi Flick’s replacement at Bayern Munich… and Tottenham still hold an interest in the 33-year-old

  • Julian Nagelsmann has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich this summer
  • The 33-year-old was forced to deny he had held talks with the Bundesliga giants
  • Tottenham have also long been admirers of the young German head coach
  • But it will cost big money to convince RB Leipzig to let their young hotshot go

RB Leipzig will not part with head coach Julian Nagelsmann this summer without compensation to the tune of £17million.

Nagelsmann, 33, is regarded as one of the most talented young coaches in the global game, and has taken the club into the knockout stages of the Champions League this season, as well as pushing Bayern Munich all the way in the Bundesliga.

The Bavarian giants have been heavily linked with the former Hoffenheim trainer amid huge doubts over Hansi Flick’s future, and club icon Lothar Matthaus even suggested the club are looking into a deal when speaking after Bayern’s Champions League exit on Tuesday evening.

That public outburst prompted an angry response from Nagelsmann, who took the opportunity at his press conference on Wednesday to insist that he, nor his representatives, have had any contact with the Bundesliga leaders.

However, according to Sport1 RB Leipzig would be willing to part with their boss this summer, but only for a substantial compensation package.

They suggest that the club would be looking for a fee in the region of €15m to €20m to allow clubs the chance to talk to Nagelsmann.

While Bayern appear almost certain to search for a new head coach, with Flick’s position at the club increasingly uncertain amid links to the vacant Germany national team job, they are not the only club in the market for a new head coach.

Jose Mourinho and Tottenham appear on shaky ground, with Spurs having fallen back in the race for a top-four spot in the Premier League, and the Portuguese boss digging out his own players in recent post-match interviews.

Nuno Espirito Santo is the latest to be linked, with the Wolves manager a possible replacement should Mourinho fail to deliver Champions League football.

However, Spurs have long been admirers of Nagelsmann, with the German in the conversation when Mauricio Pochettino left the club in 2019.
