One Premier League club has reportedly pulled out of the race to sign Erling Haaland because of the player’s astronomical wage demands.

Manchester United, Chelsea and Man City are all interested in signing the Borussia Dortmund superstar this summer but have been told by the player’s agent, Mino Raiola, that they will need to break the bank to sign him.

According to Goal, an unnamed English club have ‘given up’ on their pursuit of the Norwegian striker after being told by Raiola that he wants £30million a year at his next club.

These eye-watering wages have reportedly been enough to put off one side from signing one of world football’s hottest properties, especially given the current financial climate.

Real Madrid and Barcelona are also keen on signing the 20-year-old, after Raiola and his father Alf-Inge recently visited both clubs, which sparked rumours the striker was destined for Spain.

However, Goal have also reported that both LaLiga giants are also finding it ‘very difficult’ to sign the player.

Haaland is said to be valued at £154m while clubs would also have to pay pricey agent fees on top of that, given Haaland’s star power in football right now.

Bayern Munich are also interested in Haaland but would rather wait one more year to sign him should he stay put at Dortmund.

Next summer, Haaland is available for about £65m due to a clause in his contract and Sportsmail understands Bayern believe they can win the race for him under those circumstances, as they seek the long-term heir to Robert Lewandowski, who turns 33 in August.

Earlier this week, Michael Zorc, Dortmund’s sporting director, publicly declared that Dortmund are not intending to sell the prolific striker.

He told ARD Sportchau: ‘We have a very clear plan to start the new season with Erling.

‘I like to stick to the contractual basis and how discussions have been carried out in the last week.’

However, while Dortmund may hold the cards for the time being, Raiola says he disagrees that Haaland will definitely stay at the German club this summer.

He told SPORT1: ‘Michael Zorc (Dortmund’s sporting director) made it clear to us that BVB do not want to sell Erling this summer.

‘I respect this opinion, but that does not automatically mean that I also agree. BVB were very clear in their views. We are OK with that.

‘There is no war between us and BVB – absolutely not!

‘The relationship with Zorc, Aki (Hans-Joachim Watzke, Dortmund CEO) and [Sebastian] Kehl (Dortmund director) is still good.’

Haaland, 20, has scored 33 goals in all competitions already this season and, along with Kylian Mbappe, is the most sought after young forward in football.
