Nintendo says it will focus on more original game series in the future

Some thoughts based on the comments here:

1. I support the creation of new IPs. We’ll see what actually happens.

2. F-Zero, if I recall, was put on ice because Nintendo was having a hard time since the Wii era to adapt something that would reinvigorate the franchise. Personally, I thought it was fine the way it was. Loved F-Zero GX, but they want to do something new. Motion controls with racing games have yet to really be impressive, and I think that’s what they’re trying for. Could be a cop-out. Either way, haven’t seen anything on F-Zero so I would probably take their word on this one.

3. They’ve gone radio silent on Metroid Prime 4, which is probably not a good sign. Then again, who can say how some studios have been hit by the pandemic? Perhaps I’m a bit too much of an optimist, but the impression I get here is that it’s going to be a FPS, and setting yourself apart in a sea of similar games is a huge undertaking. I’ll reserve judgment. We went quite a length of time without hearing updates on The Last Guardian too, and that eventually materialized as one of the most significant experiences in ages for many people. I’d give this one time.
