EFL confirm all matches scheduled for 3pm next Saturday will be MOVED to avoid clashing with Prince Philip’s funeral… with announcement over rearrangements to follow in due course

The EFL have announced that all matches scheduled for 3pm next Saturday will be moved to avoid clashing with Prince Philip’s funeral.

Following the Duke of Edinburgh’s sad passing at the age of 99, it has been revealed that his funeral will take place next weekend at Windsor Castle.

And, in a sign of respect for the longest-serving consort in British history, all EFL fixtures will now be pushed back to a different time.

A statement from the EFL said: ‘As a mark of respect, EFL matches scheduled for 3pm on Saturday 17 April will be moved to avoid a clash with the funeral of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

‘The EFL will not work with its Clubs to determine at what time the matches will be played, giving consideration to the timing of the service.

‘An announcement will follow in due course.’

There are 32 games across the Championship, League One and League Two that were set to get underway at 3pm on the day of the funeral.

More to follow.
