BREAKING NEWS: New York says everyone over 30 can get the Covid vaccine TOMORROW and people over 16 will be eligible on April 6 – a month before Biden’s deadline
- New York is lowering its coronavirus vaccine eligibility from all adults aged 50 and older to those aged 30 and older
- Starting April 6, all residents above the age of 16 will be able to schedule appointments to be vaccinated
- It comes as 10 states will make vaccines eligible to all adults this week
New York is joining dozens of other states in expanding its coronavirus vaccine eligibility.
Starting on Tuesday, March 30, all New Yorkers aged 30 and older will be able to schedule appointments and get vaccinated, lowering the age threshold from age 50 and older.
And, next week – Tuesday, April 6 – all residents above the age of 16 will able to receive vaccines, in line with President Joe Biden’s goal of making every adult eligible for a shot by May 1.
Previously only young adults with pre-existing conditions were able to be vaccinated.

”Today we take a monumental step forward in the fight to beat COVID’ Governor Andrew Cuomo said during a press conference on Monday.
‘As we continue to expand eligibility, New York will double down on making the vaccine accessible for every community to ensure equity, particularly for communities of color who are too often left behind.
‘We can see the light at the end of the tunnel, but until we get there it is more important than ever for each and every New Yorker to wear a mask, socially distance and follow all safety guidelines.’
As of Monday morning, more than nine million total doses have been administered across all vaccination sites, with about 30 percent receiving one dose and 17 percent fully immunized.
In New York City, 27 percent of residents have had at least one dose and 15 percent have completed their series.
In the last 24 hours alone, more than 171,000 New Yorkers have had shots in arms.
New Yorkers are still encouraged to not show up to any vaccination sites without a confirmed appointment.
It comes as 10 states will make vaccines eligible to all adults this week.
Six of those states – Kansas, Louisiana, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma and Texas – are lifting restrictions for residents aged 16 and older by Monday.
Minnesota will remove restrictions on Tuesday, Indiana and South Carolina will follow on Wednesday and Connecticut will on Thursday.
