Jameela Jamil has hit out at Piers Morgan after his exit from Good Morning Britain claiming his ‘campaign of lies and hatred’ against her almost drove her to suicide last year.
‘The Good Place’ star, 35, who has also come under fire for her social media comments in the past, tweeted Tuesday about the 55-year-old British presenter’s departure from the daytime TV show, likening it to her ‘birthday’.
Morgan quit GMB Tuesday in light of a backlash over comments he made about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s bombshell interview with Oprah where the Duchess of Sussex said her mental health became so bad while they were living in the UK as senior working Royals she ‘didn’t want to be alive any more’.
Morgan said he ‘didn’t believe a word’ Meghan said live on air Monday morning sparking more than 41,000 viewer complaints to watchdog Ofcom.
The following morning, the host stormed off set when colleague Alex Beresford criticized him for ‘trash[ing]’ her and, just hours later, network ITV announced Morgan had quit.

Jamil waded into the controversy Tuesday claiming Morgan’s comments had also impacted her mental health and that she was ‘glad I’m still alive’.
‘I almost killed myself a year ago because of Piers Morgan’s relentless campaign of lies and hatred against me last February,’ she claimed in a tweet.
‘I’m glad I’m still alive today for many reasons. But watching him leave GMB today is right up there and has me feeling,’ she wrote, alongside a GIF of herself posing and flicking her hair on the red carpet at the Emmys.
The actress posted a series of tweets on the storm that has erupted in the wake of the Oprah interview and Morgan’s response.
She shared a GIF of Morgan on GMB as she slammed him for ‘scream[ing]’ over people and called for minorities to be ‘treated with dignity and respect.’
‘May we NEVER have to watch minorities have to go on mainstream news and have to *defend* their right to be treated with dignity and respect… ever again. All while being screamed over by this man. @GMB,’ she tweeted.
In another tweet, Jamil likened her celebration over his exit to her ‘birthday’ and said she was rooting for Beresford to replace him as co-host alongside Susanna Reid.
‘OH MY GOD IS IT MY BIRTHDAY AGAIN?! I hope @alexberesfordTV replaces his role. What a gent!’ she wrote, alongside a link to a news story announcing he had quit.

The actress also retweeted a post by DJ Jodie Harsh which mocked Morgan’s exit saying his ‘pronouns are was/were.’
Jamil and Morgan have had a rocky relationship for some time, engaging in a series of social media spats last year.
Jamil’s comment about last February was a reference to their clash in the wake of Love Island host Caroline Flack’s death.
Flack committed suicide in her apartment in London on February 15 after learning she was going to face prosecution over an alleged assault on her boyfriend.
One week later, Morgan, who is also Editor at large for MailOnline, shared messages he said he received from Flack months earlier saying she was ‘struggling’ with Jamil ‘aiming hate’ at her.
The October 22 messages read: ‘Please have pictures… I’m struggling with Jameela. The hate she aims at me.’
Morgan tweeted a screenshot of the messages saying he was calling out Jamil’s ‘breathtaking hypocrisy’.
‘Jameela Jamil is having a lot to say about online harassment, so in the interests of balance, here is a message Caroline Flack sent me last October after the same Jameela Jamil led an online pile-on against her regarding a new TV show she was doing,’ he wrote.

Jamil fired back at Morgan saying she was criticizing the show The Surjury – which was to be fronted by Flack – in which a panel decides if someone should get plastic surgery and accused the presenter of ‘using a dead woman’ as a ‘weapon’ against her.
‘I simply said I found the show ‘surjury’ (not her) problematic for kids to watch,’ she replied.
‘And that Love Island needed some more diversity. Both times Caroline instigated debate with ME even though I was not targeting or blaming her at all. I always just politely explained my point.
‘Piers Using a dead woman who I was friends with, as a weapon to try to create further harassment for me as I’ve JUST explained publicly that last week I felt suicidal… is why he is this industry’s most problematic. My criticizing a *show* did not aim any hate at Caroline.’
The same month, they also locked horns after Jamil was accused of having Munchausen syndrome by social media users when she listed health issues which followers began to question including an intense fear of bees, a severe nut allergy, cancer twice and recovered from a car crash that put her in a wheelchair.

Morgan tweeted that she had ‘1,345 virtue-signalling victimhood-craving ailments’.
Jamil replied that ‘there is no cure for you being a pointless, boring misogynist p***k sadly’, fueling Morgan to hit back with: ‘Hi Jameela, lovely to hear from you as always, especially as you battle your latest terrible affliction, Munchausen syndrome. ‘I hear it can make ‘victims’ angry & abusive, so I forgive you & wish you well with your treatment.’
The pair publicly clashed again in August when Morgan hit out at Meghan for encouraging people to vote in the upcoming US election while members of the Royal family are supposed to stay politically neutral.
‘The Queen must strip the Sussexes of their titles. They can’t remain as royals & spout off about foreign elections in such a brazenly partisan way,’ he tweeted.
Jamil defended Meghan replying that Buckingham Palace ‘may be more embarrassed’ by Prince Andrew after Virginia Roberts Giuffre, a victim of late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, claimed she was forced to have sex with him when she was 17.
The prince has vehemently denied the claims but withdrew from his royal duties amid the public attention over his ties to the pedophile.
‘I *THINK* they may be more embarrassed by their alleged resident pedo Andrew who was besties with a sex trafficker, than an American supporting women voting in her own country, and loosely referencing the importance of general democracy which is being threatened here currently,’ she tweeted.
Jamil has also come under fire for her own social media posts where she has slammed fellow celebrities.
Last year, the actress called Kim Kardashian ‘deluded’ because of her ‘obsession’ with body image but denied ‘trying to cancel’ the reality star.
In June, Jamil responded to a photo shared by Kardashian of her corset from the 2019 Met Gala, urging fans to block or remove the accounts from their feed.
She called the reality star ‘harmed’ and ‘deluded.’
She has been known to take aim at the Kardashian sisters on several occasions, especially criticizing their promotion of diet products.

Just five months later in November, Jamil admitted to ‘slut-shaming’ and being a ‘troll’ to other female celebrities.
‘There is documented proof of me slut-shaming loads of female celebrities, like Miley [Cyrus], Beyoncé, Rihanna, like Kim [Kardashian], all of these different people — Iggy Azalea — and I was doing it because I was in pain. I was a troll,’ she said on Red Table Talk in November.
She added that she ‘had all this rage and I would project it at women’ but insisted she ‘won’t take it back because women reserve the right to f**k up and come back’.
But earlier this year she lashed out again – this time at British pregnant reality star Lauren Goodger calling her ‘irresponsible’ for advertising a diet shake on Instagram.
On Tuesday, Morgan resigned from GMB after six years on the show in the wake of his response to Meghan and Harry’s interview.
Meghan had told Oprah she was suicidal while five months pregnant with son Archie and turned to the palace for help but was denied it.
She also said one unnamed member of the Royal Family had raised concerns that Archie’s skin would be too ‘dark’.
‘I don’t believe a word she says, Meghan Markle,’ Morgan said on Monday’s show, hours after the interview first aired in the US.
‘I wouldn’t believe it if she read me a weather report and that fact that she fired up this onslaught against our royal family, I think is contemptible.’
UK media regulator Ofcom launched an investigation after it received more than 41,000 complaints and UK mental health charity Mind, which worked with network ITV, called his comments ‘disappointing.’

It emerged Wednesday that Meghan also wrote to ITV’s boss to complain saying she was worried about how Morgan’s comments could affect people attempting to deal with their own mental health problems, an insider told the Press Association.
The presenter addressed the backlash Tuesday saying it was ‘not for me to question if she felt suicidal’.
He then stormed off the set of GMB Tuesday amid a row with Beresford.
‘I understand that you’ve got a personal relationship with Meghan Markle or had one and she cut you off. She’s entitled to cut you off if she wants to,’ said Beresford.
‘Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? I don’t think she has, but yet you continue to trash her.’
‘Okay, I’m done with this, sorry, no, sorry … see you later, sorry, can’t do this,’ Morgan said as he walked off.
The show went to an ad and Morgan returned to continue with the remainder of the day following the break.
ITV later released a statement saying Morgan had left the show.
‘Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain,’ the network said in a statement.
‘ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.’
