This year he wants to kick on and fight with those at the front of the grid more often – even if that means he will be compared to Russell.
“Being compared to George isn’t a bad thing in my opinion,” Norris added. “I know how good a driver he is and I look forward to our future in Formula 1 together.”
Norris’ main challenge will be to try and finish ahead of his new team-mate Daniel Ricciardo, which will be no easy feat.
Ricciardo finished fifth with Renault last year but Norris is not using that as an excuse as to why the Australian was ahead of him.
