A Place In The Sun host Danni Menzies' war hero ex was given Conspicuous Gallantry Cross

Danni Menzies is currently single after splitting from boyfriend Simon Moloney last year. The A Place In The Sun presenter spent the first lockdown with the former soldier, before they went their separate ways.

The Channel 4 host knew little of her now ex’s past in the armed forces when they met on a blind date.

Simon had been previously awarded the Conspicuous Gallantry Cross – second only to the Victoria Cross.

He was recognised for his efforts after being shot in the throat during a firefight with the Taliban.

The Lance Corporal thought he was going to die, after a bullet went through his neck.

Danni, who joined A Place In The Sun back in 2016, said Simon was “quite nervous” at first.

But added to the publication: “Later on in the date, he took control and took me to a fantastic speakeasy kind of place where you solve puzzles for drinks.

“It was really good fun and he was the most gentlemanly man I have ever been on a date with.”

However, back in November, the small screen regular spoke out on her now ex-boyfriend.
