Prince Harry and Meghan Markle refute Queen’s statement on public service

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle plan to make a difference in the world, with or without the royal family.

Buckingham Palace released a statement Friday on behalf of The Queen, confirming that the couple are officially done with their royal duties, before going on to assert, “in stepping away from the work of The Royal Family it is not possible to continue with the responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service.”

Royals expert Omid Scobie soon shared a statement from the couple’s rep pushing back on Queen Elizabeth’s belief that “it is not possible” for them to be in service of the people while distancing themselves from the crown.

“As evidenced by their work over the past year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain committed to their duty and service to the UK. and around the world, and have offered their continued support to organizations they have represented, regardless of official role,” read the statement.

“We can all live a life of service. Service is universal.”

Despite their passionate response, the pair will still be stripped of several charitable duties. Charitable, military, and commonwealth associations which will immediately revert back to The Queen include The Royal Marines, The Royal Navy, The Association of Commonwealth Universities, The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust and others, Scobie reports.

The expectant couple will soon sit down with Oprah Winfrey to discuss their Megxit journey.
