Control Game REVIEW In 2021 (Is CONTROL worth it in 2021?) (NO SPOILERS)

Is control worth your time?
Welcome to classic game reviews and today we will be figuring out if control is a potential classic

Control is a third person Metroid Vania inspired linear story focused single player shooter that released back in 2019.
Control is now releasing on PlayStation plus for free so now would be a great time to share my thoughts.

So is control really worth it in 2021? Is Control worth your valuable time? Lets find out, this is my Control Review in 2021

We will be talking narrative and gameplay design.
Time stamps down below, there will be no spoilers
0:00 INTRO
0:15 NARRATIVE
2:15 GAMEPLAY

So lets get straight into this, if you aren’t into very complicated and convoluted narratives this game probably wont be for you narratively. The story is complex
while at the same time being very dumbed down. If you get invested into the story it can provide some amazing moments simply because of the games foundation.
The very foundation of this game is beyond unique so you can do anything with the narrative simply because of how creative the ip is. However the pacing of the story is all
over the place. There were plenty of times where the game comes to a painful halt.
A game with such a foundation could of done a lot more with less time.
So if you dont have a lot of time to play through the game in just a weekend it could be very easy to lose focus and completely forget what kind of story is trying to be told.
If you do have the time you may find yourself invested into a story you could potentially love for years to come.

Gameplay

So if you aren’t a story kind of gamer the gameplay here will provide your wildest dreams. If you love particle effects destruction and all that this game is perfect for you.
The level of interactivity is something to behold and is the one thing I’ve been really impressed by consistently. The story is a mixed bag but the gameplay blew me away.
However the main issue for me personally is the constant and unnecessary busy work which drags the whole game down significantly. I’m not too sure why the developers
chose to go down a Metroid Vania esque design.
