Frasier: Paramount+ 'close' to reviving Emmy-winning NBC sitcom

Frasier reboot ‘close’ to being greenlit by Paramount+ with Kelsey Grammer reprising his titular role… and filming could ‘start this summer’

Paramount+ is reportedly close to reviving hit NBC sitcom Frasier, which amassed 37 Emmy Awards over 11 season spanning 1993-2004.

Shooting could begin as early as summer if the reboot is greenlit, according to TV Line, with Kelsey Grammer reprising his role as Dr. Frasier Crane.

Paramount+ also hopes to lure supporting castmembers David Hyde Pierce, Jane Leeves, and Peri Gilpin to return as Niles Crane, Daphne Moon, and Roz Doyle.

Sadly, John Mahoney – who played Frasier’s father Martin – passed away, age 77, in 2018 after a four-year battle with throat cancer.

Fans can expect the pretentious Harvard-trained psychiatrist to bring his radio show/podcast to a new city after leaving his Seattle hometown.

‘We’ve got it hatched. We’ve hatched the plan, what we think is the right way to go,’ the 65-year-old actor told In Depth With Graham Bensinger in 2019.
