West Brom eyeing up former Leicester forward Ahmed Musa following his release by Saudi Arabian side

West Brom eye up ex-Leicester striker Ahmed Musa following his release from Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr – with the Nigerian believing he has unfinished business in the Premier League after flopping at the Foxes

  • Sam Allardyce wants to bring in a goalscorer and is considering Ahmed Musa
  • The 28-year-old has been a free agent since November after a spell at Al-Nassr
  • Musa scored just five goals in 33 games for Leicester between 2016 and 2018
  • The Baggies are also interested in Christian Benteke and Hamza Choudhury

West Brom will take a look at former Leicester City forward Ahmed Musa this week with a view to signing him on a short-term contract.

The 28-year-old is a free agent after leaving Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr and has been attracting interest from Wolves, Fulham and his former club CSKA Moscow,.

However, the Nigeria captain believes he has ‘unfinished business’ in the Premier League and Sam Allardyce is prepared to give him the opportunity to prove himself.

Musa joined Leicester from CSKA for a club record £16.6million in 2016. Yet, despite an impressive start where he scored a spectacular brace in a pre-season game against Barcelona, he drifted out of form. He still managed to star for his country though in the 2018 World Cup and was sold to Al Nassr for £14.5m.

There he won the Saudi Premier League and Saudi Super Cup but left by mutual consent in November.

Allardyce wants to bolster his attacking options and believes Musa’s pace and power can add another dimension to his struggling side as they look to avoid relegation.

West Brom have requested a UK visa for Musa and he is expected to come in this Wednesday for medical tests. Should all go well, he will sign until the end of the season.

Musa will not be Allardyce’s only forward signing as the club continue to explore targets across Europe.

Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke and Mbaye Diagne of Galatasaray are some of the names being discussed but West Brom face a hard sell languishing second from bottom of the Premier League.

They also want to add two midfielders, with Leicester’s Hamza Choudhury and Okay Yokuslu of Celta Vigo among their targets.
