Bridgerton season 2 in jeopardy as Daphne star drops worrying hint: ‘Can’t imagine’

The rise of COVID-19 cases across the United Kingdom could put a stop to a potential second season of Bridgerton filming any time soon. Daphne Bridgerton star Phoebe Dyenvor and the rest of the cast are hopeful Netflix will give the greenlight, but it’s still unclear when the series can head back into production.

Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor has admitted she has no idea when the cast and crew of the Netflix phenomenon will be able to start work on the second season.

The new Netflix series became a runaway hit when Daphne’s steamy liaisons with the Duke of Hastings, Simon Basset (played by Regé-Jean Page) were released over Christmas.

Despite reportedly drawing in millions of viewers, ongoing coronavirus restrictions could cause significant delays to the erotic costume drama’s eventual follow-up.

Dynevor raised her concerns when she expressed her hopes for season two during a recent conversation with Deadline.

Dynevor recalled the end of filming was a ‘crazy’ time, recalling: “We just managed to finish. It was amazing.”

Meanwhile, the rising star was able to complete work on another, equally intimate new series Younger in New York, thanks to some extensive health and safety measures.

She explained: “When I was filming, it was masks on in rehearsals. So you don’t take them off until you say action. Or at least we didn’t.”

“It was a really strange experience. I didn’t see my character’s new boyfriend’s face until we were filming a scene together, which was really bizarre.”

Any updates on Bridgerton’s all but guaranteed second season have still yet to be officially confirmed.

Thankfully, the star seems confident Netflix and Shondaland will eventually get to the rest of Quinn’s sultry series, which continued with the second novel, The Viscount Who Loved Me.

Dynevor said: “I genuinely have no idea what they’re going to do with the second season, but I imagine if they’re following the books, then it would be Anthony’s journey.”

“I’m sure Daphne will end up getting involved. But yeah, I do wonder what it looks like. I’m excited to find out.”

Netflix subscribers may not find out what’s next for Daphne and the Duke until 2022, but the streaming service is expected to confirm Bridgerton’s return any day now.

Bridgerton season 1 is available to stream on Netflix.
