George Clarke shares how getting rid of wooden spoons will help declutter your kitchen

George Clarke will return tonight for another series of Amazing Spaces during which he will explore unique properties around the UK. Each episode of Amazing Spaces involves George visiting incredible properties where the owners have really made the most of what they have using design. George also creates dream homes for Britons looking for help with their small spaces.

If you’ve found yourself with a cluttered kitchen recently and you’re not sure how to fix it, George has revealed his top tips for keeping your kitchen neat and tidy.

In a video for P&G (Procter & Gamble), George explained his three basic rules for keeping your kitchen clutter-free.

George explained to viewers that the trick to keeping your kitchen clutter-free is prioritising what you need.

He said: “There’s probably things at the back of your kitchen cupboard that you’ve not seen for years.

1. Clear your kitchen counters

George used the example of wooden spoons and chipped mugs.

How many do Britons really need in their homes, and how much space are they taking up?

He added: “If you’re not using them, throw them away.

“That’ll make you feel better and it’ll make your kitchen look better.

“You can get rid of all those fridge magnets and scraps of paper as well.

If you push everything to the back of a cupboard, you’ll only struggle to access it later too.

3. Keep it under control

“The thing is everyone uses the kitchen so why should the responsibility for keeping it clean fall on your shoulders?” George asked.

The architect advises trying to get everyone to chip in and help by assigning each person one small chore each day.

“It’s their space too and they can be as proud of it as you are,” he added.

George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces airs tonight at 8pm on Channel 4.
