Keeping our homes safe and secure has never felt more important this year. As many Britons spend more time at home, either working or to avoid catching coronavirus, making sure homes are secure from break-ins is paramount. Between 2019 and 2020, there were over 402,000 burglaries in England and Wales.
“There are small devices that are called IR (Infrared) sensors,” he said.
“What this means is that there is an invisible beam.
“If that beam is broken – it’s almost like what you see in films with the infrared line.”
He explained that if the beam is broken, then it will set off an alarm.
However, this does tend to cost a bit more, plus, there is a downside to installing CCTV.
“What we say, and why we don’t focus that much on CCTV is because it only shows you what’s happened and when it has happened.
“So it only shows you the proof and most of the time, you can only go to the police and say ‘look this has happened’.”
But he did say using an alarm system is more secure as you can connect it to a monitoring company.
The company can then activate an alarm response to your home if someone breaks in.
