Paris Saint-Germain are looking to end Christian Eriksen’s nightmare spell at Inter Milan, with the Italian club proposing a swap deal that would see Leandro Paredes go the other way – but Mauricio Pochettino is not keen for the 26-year-old to leave the Parc des Princes.

Pochettino has not yet been announced as PSG’s new boss following the sacking of Thomas Tuchel on Thursday, but he already appears to be calling the shots on transfer policy as a deal for him to take over as head coach is set to be completed.

Eriksen spent more than six years at Tottenham under Pochettino after signing in the summer of 2013 and developed into one of the most potent creative forces in the Premier League, but left to join Inter in January this year, just two months after Pochettino had been replaced by Jose Mourinho.

However, the Dane’s time in the Italian capital under former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has never really got started, with just four goals and three assists to his name for the Nerazzurri in 38 games across all competitions.

In 12 games so far this term for his club, Eriksen has yet to play the full 90 minutes, and Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta revealed on Wednesday that the 28-year-old is on the January transfer list.

With £25million Eriksen set to be off their books, Inter are looking for a replacement and are interested in bringing Paredes to Italy, according to le10sport.

It seems though that Pochettino is not keen for his countryman to depart, despite Paredes not always being a regular starter.

Tuchel’s sacking on Christmas Eve came the day after PSG had comfortably beaten Strasbourg 4-0 at home.

The French giants are third in Ligue 1 though and despite Tuchel guiding the side to a domestic treble and a first-ever Champions League final in 2019-20, the board lost patience in a season which has seen them throw away leads against Monaco and Bordeaux in November before dropping more points against title rivals Lyon and Lille.

PSG’s next game after a two-week winter break sees them travel to Saint-Etienne on January 6.
