Cleaning: Mrs Hinch fans share bizarre food hack for removing stickers from hard surfaces

With Christmas just around the corner, many Britons will be receiving a plethora of gifts from loved ones. Many items, such as glasses, vases and mirrors, often have stickers on them. While this may be a handy way of pricing a product, stickers can be tough to remove.

Fans of cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch, AKA Sophie Hinchliffe, have created their own private Facebook groups dedicated to cleaning hacks.

Mrs Hinch has managed to garner almost four million followers on Instagram which is largely due to her impressive cleaning skills.

Yesterday, one Facebook user posted on a private group about removing stickers.

She said: “Does anyone have any tips on how to remove stickers please? I need to take them off my daughters wheelchair.”

A user advised: “Peel them off then rub with mayonnaise and clean with a scrubber and it will come off.”

Another agreed: “I watched on how clean is your house years ago to use Mayo and the oils soak in to it and it peels off.” (Sic)

Using mayonnaise was recommended by other users too who said to leave it on the sticker for a bit before trying to peel it off.

Other recommendations included WD40 and baby oil.

Some of the tips included using hand sanitiser to remove the stubborn stickers.

One user said: “I use hand sanitiser it’s great at removing most things from most surfaces.”

Some of the more unusual recommendations included using nail polish remover, white spirit, hairspray, lighter fluid and cooking oil.
