Robbie Williams, 46, has opened up about his brush with death after he was warned by doctors to change his seafood orientated diet or risk putting his life in the balance. The former Take That band member was told he had high levels of mercury poisoning in his body which could have caused him to “drop dead” at any moment.
Mercury poisoning can lead to a metallic taste in the mouth, sickness and muscle weakness.
Recalling the terrifying news, he spoke about his ordeal in a recent interview on Radio X, where he said that the octopus, squid and tuna he enjoyed to eat regularly were doing his body a lot of harm due to the contaminants within the food.
He only came to find out how close he was to suffering a potentially life threatening emergency after undergoing a routine blood test.
The results showed that the singer was in trouble as a build up of the levels of toxicity in his system could lead to more serious illnesses.

The 46-year-old, who shares four children with Ayda, opened up about their relationship and how he is able to be himself when he’s at home.
The pair were a couple for five years before tying the knot in 2010 and now are parents to Theodora – aka Teddy, eight, Charlton, six, Colette – known as Coco, two and Beau, 10 months.
“I look back at 15 years of being with my wife, she did, she gave me a life,” Robbie said.
“Here I am on the telly getting emotional. She absolutely did,” he added after being asked about how his wife has previously been credited with saving his life.
David Williams, a friend of the singer, was also on the show and chimed in that he too noticed the change in Robbie after he met his wife.
“I would echo what you said about Ayda,” the Britain’s Got Talent judge began.
“You were quite miserable before you met her. I felt like he’s got all this success and he’s not happy.
“It took you to really, really fall in love. Also kids are the best thing to happen, they put everything in perspective,” the comedian said.
