Quietest time to Christmas food shop at Tesco, Aldi & Asda

Supermarkets including Tesco, Aldi and Asda have several safety measures in place around their stores including limiting the number of people in the grocery store at any one time. This may result in small queues outside of the shops to help maintain social distancing inside. However there are certain times shoppers can visit for a quiet shop.

A statement on the website reads: “Good news everyone. In the run-up to Christmas Eve, we’ve extended our opening hours from 7am – 11pm Monday to Friday, just to make that whole Christmas shop a little easier for you.

“Of course, don’t forget you can check out all your local Aldi opening times online before you plan your visit.”

Stores will remain closed on Boxing Day and where possible, the supermarket is urging customers to shop alone.

Aldi stores typically tend to be fairly busy in the morning, and most busy around lunchtime.

Like Tesco, mid-week seems to be the quietest time to visit an Aldi, with weekends typically being the most busy.

The retailer also has a number of other ways customers can pick up their groceries including a contactless Click & Collect service and groceries being available on Deliveroo too.

Asda

Supermarket giant Asda has a selected number of stores open 24 hours and urges customers to check their local store’s opening times before visiting to avoid disappointment.

According to Google Data, the quietest time to shop includes Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in the morning.

Towards the end of the week including Saturdays and Sundays are typically the busiest.

Choosing a day during the week may help shoppers pick up groceries when it is quieter.

For those unable to get to store, the supermarket also has released their Christmas delivery slots as well as having a free Click & Collect service.

Shoppers can pick up their food shop the same day too for a small charge of £1 if you spend £25.
