  • Tyson Fury has confirmed he will not attend Anthony Joshua’s fight on Saturday

Tyson Fury has confirmed he will not attend Anthony Joshua’s heavyweight fight with Kubrat Pulev as the Gypsy King quashed rumours of a public face off in a bid to promote a future unification bout.

AJ defends his WBA, WBO and IBF belts for the first time since winning them back over a year ago against Andy Ruiz Jr when he faces mandatory challenger Pulev in London this weekend.

The Watford-born star has been linked with a mammoth heavyweight unification with WBC champion Fury, with both parties seemingly keen to meet in an all-British showdown for the ages at some point in 2021.

And there had been speculation that Fury would attend AJ’s bout at Wembley Arena after his promotor, Eddie Hearn, invited the Gypsy King to scout out his rival.

But Fury has quashed rumours that he will attend the heavyweight clash this Saturday in a 28-second video clip posted to Twitter.

‘Just a quick one guys, I will not be attending any boxing this weekend,’ the 32-year-old said

‘So for all the rumours going around that I am going to be attending some boxing, I will not be.

‘Don’t expect any fireworks, don’t expect any action from the Gypsy King, cos I’ll be grafting, I’ll be working as usual, always staying fit and ready. Good night and God bless.’

Fury’s remarks come after Hearn invited the Gypsy King to the bout, as well as to his home for a ‘Sunday roast and a cuppa’.

‘If he wants to fight Anthony Joshua, it’s not a case of calling him out, it’s called doing his research and building the fight,’ the Matchroom Boxing chief told Sky Sports.

‘Tyson Fury is more than welcome to come down. I only live 45 minutes away from Wembley. He can come around on Sunday afternoon for a roast as well, if he wants and a cuppa.’
