Piers Morgan apologises after blasting Good Morning Britain camera operator on-air

Good Morning Britain hosts Piers Morgan, 55, and Susanna Reid, 49, discussed what would qualify as a substantial meal in pubs once lockdown ends. The outspoken presenter’s issue with the camera operator came about when he asked them to zoom into a Scotch egg he was holding.

It comes after it was claimed that pub-goers will be able to order a round of drinks alongside the savoury dish in Tier 2 areas, once lockdown is lifted.

The GMB presenters were unimpressed by the revelation as they discussed minister George Eustice’s remarks.

But it didn’t take long for Piers to fume at his colleague behind the scenes following a camera issue.

Piers held up his Scotch egg and could be heard shouting: “This Scotch egg… can we show it please?”

Piers said he was unaware of the inexperienced camera operator working backstage.

“When I kept banging on about ‘Get my Scotch egg in shot’ – it turns out the poor camera operator is someone who has never done it before, she’s stepping in for someone who’s off sick!” the presenter explained.

Piers then introduced them to viewers, with the crew member giving the thumbs up as she was shown on screen.

He then teased his co-host for having the same name as the camera operator who he branded a “rival Susanna”.

“She now has the power of that camera to make you look good or not,” Piers said.

He commented: “We had a very friendly chat… I said if you don’t get me with the Scotch egg it will be the last time you operate camera two!

“She’s only been doing it about an hour.”

Piers joked: “Welcome to the team, Susanna – it’s a grim team and we all loathe each other but good luck to you.”

Susanna quipped: “If you’re called Susanna you get an extra hard time.”
