Poundland to open 45 stores: Map of shops opening before Christmas – is one coming to you?

Poundland is a staple high-street store which sells everything from food to stationery to kitchen utensils. Founded in 1990, there are now more than 800 stores in the UK and the Republic of Ireland, offering household brands at discounted prices. 45 new stores are set to be opening within the next year. Where are they going to be located?

Each of the stores will feature the clothing and homeware range and together will employ 120 staff members.

Opening on November 21, a Poundland store will be opening at Bedford Interchange Retail Park, Bedfordshire which will include the clothing, homeware and the chilled and frozen range.

Another shop will also be opening in Ballymena at Braidwater Retail Park on November 21 which won’t have the chilled and frozen food range.

The next stores which are due to open on December 5 include Grantham, St Augustin Retail Park, Lincolnshire, Ashton-under-Lyne, Warrington Street, Greater Manchester (relocation), Sutton-in-Ashfield Retail Park, Nottinghamshire, and Dunganon, The Oaks Shopping Centre.

The Lincolnshire, Greater Manchester and Nottinghamshire stores will all include the new chilled and frozen food range.

Poundland will also be opening in North Wales, Colwyn Bay, Sea View Road, but the opening date is yet to be confirmed by the retailer.

Poundland managing director Barry Williams said: “Poundland is going through the biggest transformation in our history and as part of that we’ve got ambitious plans to open new stores across the country where we can be a vital part of the retail community.

“We’ve broadened our ranges in groceries and household products and we’ve introduced PEP&CO clothing and homeware which means our customers can buy more of what they need under one roof.

“We aim to bring amazing value to our customers every day and are proud to be playing our part in keeping our town centres and retail parks alive and making them places where people want to shop.”

The retailer is working hard through the pandemic to ensure its customers and staff are staying safe while shopping.

Poundland has installed barrier screens at checkouts and stores are deep cleaned throughout the day.

Customers are asked to maintain social distancing while shopping and must adhere to the government guidelines and wear a face mask to help stop the spread of the virus.
