Zinedine Zidane is confident Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos will extend his stay at the club, after he made it a century of goals during their 3-2 win over Inter Milan.

Ramos scored his 100th goal for the club with a trademark header from a Toni Kroos corner to put them 2-0 up in the first-half.

Despite concerns some might have over his future at the Santiago Bernabeu, manager Zinedine Zidane is confident he will put pen to paper on an extension.

After Madrid’s victory he said: ‘As always, he is our captain, our leader.

‘We want him here forever, it is what he is doing, showing that he always wants to. I have no doubt that he will stay and that it will continue to make history.’

Ramos’ goal came after deadly striker Karim Benzema put the home side 1-0 up against the Italian giants.

Antonio Conte’s side didn’t go down without a fight though as they levelled through goals by Barcelona target Lautaro Martinez and Ivan Perisic to force a dramatic ending to the game.

Brazilian substitute Rodrygo fired home a late winner to give Los Blancos their first win in the competition this season after a shock 3-2 home defeat by Shaktar Donetsk and a 2-2 draw at leaders Borussia Monchengladbach.

‘It’s not bad,’ said Ramos after hitting the milestone at Real’s temporary home and training ground the Alfredo Di Stefano stadium.

He said:’ ‘Individual records are secondary, but you like hitting them and as long as they keep on helping the side win, hopefully I can get a few more.

‘It was a tough game, but we were able to get a good result in the end and secure three very important points.

‘We knew it was a do-or-die game and when you are pegged back to a draw in a match you were winning, you need to push on. We’d let them off the hook a bit and in the Champions League you can’t afford to do that.’
