Oleksandr Usyk gives himself just THREE out of ten for Derek Chisora performance at Wembley Arena

Oleksandr Usyk insists his aim is to become ‘undisputed world champion’ with Anthony Joshua watching on… but gives himself just THREE out of ten for performance after beating Derek Chisora at Wembley Arena

  • Oleksandr Usyk beat Derek Chisora on points in Saturday night’s fight in London
  • The fight was scored 117-112, 115-113 and 115-113 in favour of the Ukrainian boxer
  • The 33-year-old rated his performance as a ‘three out of ten’ on Saturday
  • Usyk is set to have a world title shot with Saturday’s fight guest Anthony Joshua

Oleksandr Usyk ranked his victorious performance against Derek Chisora as three out of ten and vows to improve in order to become ‘undisputed world champion’.

The Ukrainian was taken the distance by Chisora at Wembley Arena but was handed the victory by a unanimous points decision with the judges scoring 117-112, 115-113 and 115-113 in favour of Usyk.

But the 33-year-old claimed he was expecting a ‘tougher fight’ against the Briton on Saturday – and is eyeing up bigger things in the heavyweight division following his latest triumph.

When asked to rate his display in a post-match interview, Usyk replied: ‘Three.  Chisora a big guy, a hard guy.

‘I was expecting a fight like that, I was expecting even a tougher fight.

‘My plan is to go to my home, maximum time with my family. Training and improving myself. Not just world champion, the undisputed world champion (is my aim).’

Ex-professional boxer George Groves believes the result went the right way though felt Usyk slowed down after the seventh round when Chisora was looking unsteady.

Groves tweeted on Saturday night: ‘I had it 9-3 Usyk. Felt he took his foot off the gas when he didn’t get Chisora out of there after the big 7th round.

‘Waited for the last onslaught from Chisora to come and pass but didn’t fancy pushing for an early finish.. great win none the less!’

As the winner of the fight, Usyk is now expected to challenge WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO title-holder Anthony Joshua, who watched the Ukrainian beat Chisora in London on Saturday.

Joshua is set to take on Kubrat Pulev later this year ahead of a potential all-British heavyweight clash against Tyson Fury in the New Year.

Usyk, however, is undefeated in his boxing career having won all 18 fights so far. Saturday night’s triumph was only the fifth to be decided by points.

Chisora, 36, saw his three-fight winning streak come to an end, with this disappointment being the tenth defeat of his boxing career.
