Polling agencies who surveyed viewers after Thursday’s presidential debate said Joe Biden won, but online supporters of President Trump disagree.
A snap poll taken by CNN gives the former vice president the edge over Trump, 53 per cent to 39 per cent.
And a poll by YouGovAmerica also found that more than half of the respondents – 54 per cent – gave the edge to Biden while just 35 per cent said the president won.
But undeterred by mainstream pollsters, the President retweeted a string of Twitter surveys by conservative outlets which say he won by as much as 96%.

A survey conducted by US Politics Polls, which interviewed 772 likely voters who watched the debate on Thursday, gave Biden the victory – 52 per cent to just 39 per cent for Trump.
Data Progress also conducted its own snap, post-debate poll which found that Biden beat Trump by 52 per cent to 42 per cent. Seven per cent said they were undecided
CNN conducted its post-debate poll by telephone, interviewing 585 registered voters who watched the showdown on Thursday night.
The poll has a sampling error of plus or minus 5.7 percentage points.
The CNN poll taken after the first debate gave Biden a victory by 60 per cent to 28 per cent for Trump.
Data Progress also conducted its own snap, post-debate poll on Thursday, which found that Biden beat Trump by 52 per cent to 42 per cent. Seven per cent said they were undecided.
Another survey conducted by US Politics Polls, which interviewed 772 likely voters who watched the debate on Thursday, gave Biden the victory – 52 per cent to just 39 per cent for Trump.
The poll found that 9 per cent said it was a tie.
While the polls gave Biden the edge, others on social media insisted that the president was the superior debate performer on Thursday.

Laura Ingraham of Fox News tweeted a photo of CNN panelists Anderson Cooper, Gloria Borger, and David Axelrod with expressionless looks on their faces.
Ingraham tweeted that their expressions were ‘how you know Trump won the debate.’
Terrence K. Williams tweeted: ‘President Trump just won the election at the debate.’

The president himself posted several tweets showing snap online polls that gave him a resounding victory.
Trump posted a screenshot from a survey by the Las Vegas Review-Journal that gave the president 92 per cent on the question of who won the debate.
The president also posted a screenshot from a survey conducted by The Blaze, which gave him 96 per cent.
Two other screenshots shared by Trump showed him winning the debate by 91 per cent.

Others on social media appeared to be relieved that the debate was over after it lasted more than the allotted 90 minutes.
