Chelsea and Sevilla are gearing up for their first European meeting against one another. The Blues crashed out of the Champions League’s last 16 last season following a 7-1 thrashing on aggregate against eventual champions Bayern Munich. Sevilla are back in Europe’s top competition after winning last season’s Europa League.
Chelsea, though, have added Champions League experience to their squad over the summer with the arrival of defender Thiago Silva and forwards Kai Havertz, Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.
Blues boss Frank Lampard said: “It is a great platform to learn because you’re playing against the best, and we played against the best in Bayern Munich.
“We were a young team last year, working a lot to improve.
“The Bayern game was a great marker for the young players in the squad to realise the levels that need to be attained. I remember having that myself as a young player.
