Ruth Langsford: This Morning host defends herself after awkward show mishap is unearthed

Ruth Langsford, 60, has addressed an error she made while presenting a travel show after a clip of the awkward moment was unearthed by an Instagram account. The This Morning presenter shared the funny video in view of her 966,000 followers this evening and insisted she didn’t mean to make the cheeky innuendo at the time.

In the clip, Ruth can be heard saying, “nice pussy,” before bursting into a fit of giggles and adding, “cat, cat! Pussy cat!”

A caption posted alongside the video read: “Ruth knows a nice pussy when she sees one.”

Ruth spoke out about the throwback video and defended her surprising choice of words with a bit of context.

She wrote: “ANOTHER clip from my many presenting jobs over the 30 years I’ve been on TV….this was a travel show and I was referring to a big, beautiful lion we’d just been watching…honest!!”

The TV host left Instagram followers stunned with the footage which featured her “posh twin,” as the presenter appeared on camera with her hair in a long sleek style and dressed in an 80s style orange power suit.

She revealed that the video has been rediscovered as part of the “Life Before Loose” retrospective that aired today on ITV.

The special series celebrates 20 years of Loose Women and focuses on where the legendary panellists had worked before joining the chat show.

Ruth typed: “This is my posh twin back in her Continuity Presenter days at Television South West.

“Just one of the clips that the team @loosewomen have unearthed for my Life Before Loose show today.

“Dread to think what else they’ve found! Tune in to @itv at 12.30 to find out!!”

Ruth began her career working for the ITV regional station in Plymouth, before leaving when Westcountry Television took over the franchise.

She then went on to become a regular panellist on ITV’s Loose Women from 1999 until leaving the show in 2002.

In 2014 she returned to the programme and also works alongside her husband Eamonn on This Morning.
