Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp gets Everton boost as Sadio Mane and Thiago back in training

Liverpool will have Sadio Mane and Thiago Alcantara available to play in the Merseyside derby against Everton on Saturday afternoon according to reports. The duo have recently had 10-day periods of isolation after testing positive for coronavirus.

But the duo are now back to full health following their respective individual quarantines, with both having returned negative COVID-19 tests prior to returning to Melwood on Monday.

Mane and Thiago trained alongside their Liverpool team-mates with the Premier League champions having followed the protocols to introduce the two back to their squad.

Both returned two negative tests and will be in contention against high-flying Everton at the weekend, say the Daily Mirror.

It is a timely boost for Jurgen Klopp with Naby Keita currently in isolation as he awaits results of a second test.

The Guinean produced a positive test while on international duty with four other members of the squad also reported to have contracted the disease.

He had been due to represent his country in matches against Cape Verde and Gambia out in Portugal.

Thiago and Mane will be fully fresh having been forced to avoid playing for Spain and Senegal over the two-week break.

Thiago has not played since making his debut in the win over Chelsea, replacing the injured Jordan Henderson at half-time and impressing in his 45-minute cameo.

He was forced to miss top-flight clashes with Arsenal and Aston Villa, while Mane was also absent for the humiliation at Villa Park.

Liverpool lost 7-2 to the Villans and suffered their heaviest defeat since 1963 as Ollie Watkins scored a first-half hat-trick for the hosts.

But as Klopp’s charges seek to bounce back against Everton, who have won all four of their games to top the table, Thiago and Mane should return to the line-up.

Some of Liverpool’s internationals are not set to return to the club’s training base until Thursday, with England and Netherlands among the countries in action on Wednesday night.

Keita has not yet been officially ruled out of the trip to Goodison Park as he waits for the results of a follow-up test.

But if that returns positive, he will be absent away at Everton and will also likely be ruled out of the Champions League trip to Ajax the following Wednesday.

Speaking earlier this month, Klopp admitted: “I don’t want to sound disrespectful about how other countries are doing it but this is the place that we know and we know how we are dealing with it.

“So I am slightly concerned because it is difficult to be in contact with all FAs (football associations) all over the world.

“I understand it, I really understand how difficult the situation is but it’s not exactly perfect, the information we get from certain FAs.

“As a football club you are pretty alone in these moments, we send the players away and then we have another challenge because we have to play a Premier League game on a Saturday after they have travelled from, maybe Peru, on the Thursday or Friday.

“You have to make sure you bring the players home in the quickest and safest way and then we have to see how they are before we try to get a result on the Saturday.”
