Holidays: Teachers can get free airline tickets to multiple destinations – how to claim

To celebrate World Teacher’s Day, Qatar Airways is giving away 21,000 complimentary tickets to multiple destinations. The generous move from the airline is to thank teachers for their hard work in educating people worldwide during the coronavirus pandemic. The complimentary tickets will be Economy Class return tickets to any destination operated by Qatar Airways for travel up to September 30, 2021.

If airline tickets are issued up to December 31 2020, they are then valid for two years with unlimited date changes.

There’s also the option to exchange them for a travel voucher which is the value of the original ticket plus ten percent.

Those looking to grab a ticket include Classroom Paraprofessionals, Teaching Assistants and Substitutes, Intervention and Inclusion Specialists, Tutors, Senior Leaders, Early Childhood Teacher, Student Counsellors, Primary Teacher, Secondary Teacher, Casual Teacher, English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher, Special Ed Teacher, Teacher Aide, Vocational Education and Training (VET) Instructor, Pre-School and Early Years Practitioners, and Classroom Technicians.

Teachers must be able to present a valid employer ID at the airport.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Mr Akbar Al Baker, said in a statement: “We at Qatar Airways are incredibly grateful for the commitment and hard work of teaching professionals around the world who continue to educate our young people in these times of uncertainty.

“We know that it has not been an easy task, yet teachers have been incredibly resourceful, turning to online learning and other methods.

“As the largest airline flying consistently throughout the pandemic, we have also supported students in recent weeks by flying to wherever they need to be to start their studies on charter as well as scheduled flights.

“As an airline, we firmly believe in the importance of education and are committed to lending our support to educational causes.”

Earlier this year, Qatar Airways announced that it would be giving away 100,000 complimentary flights to frontline healthcare workers.

The move was in honour of International Nurses Day 2020.

The complimentary flights were also a gesture of appreciation to healthcare professionals for all their hard work to combat the coronavirus on the frontline.

Qatar Airways has also said that it plans to fly to 124 destination by the end of 2020.
