Chris Evans: Virgin Radio host in hysterics as Paul McCartney runs into trouble on-air

Chris Evans, 54, recently spoke to Beatles band member Paul McCartney, 78, on his Virgin Radio Breakfast Show, and they couldn’t pass up an opportunity to have the musical icon read out an on-air announcement, that could be played for years to come. But it didn’t go to plan as Paul kept mincing his words, unable to remember exactly what to say.

What they hoped for was a jingle that read: “You’re listening to the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky on Virgin Radio,” but what they got was quite different.

He eventually managed it word for word in the end, but it took a long time for Paul to perfect his speech.

While Chris was telling listeners about the on-air debacle, his co-star Vassos Alexander couldn’t stop laughing.

“That was the directors cut,” Chris giggled as he played the proper announcement when Paul finally got it right.

Elsewhere, the former BBC presenter went on a trip down memory lane with TV legend Graham Norton, and it turns out the pair shared a rather intimate moment on the day they met.

As the nostalgia flowed, Graham suddenly realised he’d planted a big kiss on Chris while speaking to him for a project he was working on at the time.

“Did we first meet at Gay Pride?” the Virgin Radio host wondered, wracking his brain.

There was a short pause before Graham blurted out: “Did I kiss you?”

Chris spluttered: “Well, hopefully!” he joked, before recognising his guest was serious.
