Games with Gold October 2020 news after surprise Xbox Live free games trial update

Microsoft will reveal its full plans for Games with Gold October 2020 this week, confirming the four new Xbox One and Xbox 360 titles that will be added to the list.

We don’t have a precise date for when this will happen but we do know it will need to be revealed before Thursday, October 1, 2020.

So expect the exciting Xbox Live Gold news to drop sometime over the coming days.

So far, no leaks have surfaced suggesting what might be hitting Games with Gold next.

September’s Games with Gold lineup included Tom Clancy’s The Division, The Book of Unwritten Rules 2, de Blob 2, and Armed and Dangerous.

The Division and Armed and Dangerous will be replaced at the end of the month with new games, while Unwritten Rules 2 will be available until October 16.

Microsoft has had a hard time matching the quality of Sony’s PS Plus this year, and with so many Xbox games to choose from, it’s hard to say what might be chosen next.

Something worth noting for the coming months is that Microsoft recently bought ZeniMax Media, parent company of Bethesda Softworks.

This means that Microsoft, could if they wanted to, add some massive Bethesda games to Games with Gold, starting in October.

A message from Microsoft adds: “As one of the largest, most critically acclaimed, privately held game developers and publishers in the world, Bethesda is an incredibly talented group of 2,300 people worldwide who make up some of the most accomplished creative studios in our industry across Bethesda Softworks, Bethesda Game Studios, id Software, ZeniMax Online Studios, Arkane, MachineGames, Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog, and Roundhouse Studios.

“These are the teams responsible for franchises like The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Wolfenstein, DOOM, Dishonored, Prey, Quake, Starfield and many more.

“We will be adding Bethesda’s iconic franchises to Xbox Game Pass for console and PC. One of the things that has me most excited is seeing the roadmap with Bethesda’s future games, some announced and many unannounced, to Xbox console and PC including Starfield, the highly anticipated, new space epic currently in development by Bethesda Game Studios.”

It’s unclear if any games from the company will make it onto Games with Gold, or if they’re being reserved just for the Game Pass.

Until we find out more about Games with Gold in October, here are some of the free game trials you can pick up and play this weekend, including:
