Gareth Bale's agent provides new Tottenham transfer update as Real Madrid agree terms

Gareth Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett claims his client is “close” to completing a transfer from Real Madrid to Tottenham as Jose Mourinho is set to finally land his man

Last night Barnett told BBC Sport Wales: “Gareth still loves Spurs.

“We are talking [Spurs, Real and Bale’s camp]. It’s where he wants to be.”

And now the agent has provided further clarify by confirming that progress has been made.

“It is close but not done,” Barnett told AP. “It is a complicated deal.”

Real are apparently willing to pay 50 percent of Bale’s gigantic £500,000-a-week salary for the loan to go through.

Meanwhile, Tottenham legend Jurgen Klinsmann has recently urged Bale to sort out his future.

“Time goes by so fast as a player and you cannot waste it,” the German told talkSPORT.

“Being on the bench is the worst punishment a player can have. The most important thing for every player is to be on the field playing.

“When things are not working out, sooner or later you have to come to a conclusion and consider it may be time to move on.

“We would love to have the chance to admire a player like him week in, week out, on television. As a Tottenham fan, I would love him to come back to Spurs.”

And speaking earlier this year, Bale expressed his love for Spurs.

“Everybody loves tuning in to watch the Champions League final, and obviously Tottenham were there so I had a very keen interest, I was hoping they’d get to the final like they did,” he said.

“They had some great matches on the way, obviously in the semi-final.

“For us Tottenham fans it was a bit disappointing in the final, but you have to look at the bigger picture. They did great to get there and gave a good account of themselves.”
