Dr Li-Meng Yan’s account, which has 60,000 followers, was suspended by the social media giant after she accused China of releasing the deadly virus that has infected millions of people around the world. A message reads: “Account suspended. Twitter suspends accounts which violate the Twitter Rules.”
The virologist and three colleagues made claims about the origins of coronavirus in a report published this week.
The report said: “Natural origin theory, although widely accepted, lacks substantial support.
“The alternative theory that the virus may have come from a research laboratory is, however, strictly censored on peer-reviewed scientific journals.”
Dr Yan, who has fled to the US, was described as a “whistleblower” in an interview on Tuesday on Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Tonight.
During the appearance, the virologist claimed coronavirus is a “man-made virus” and “not from nature”.
She said: ”I have evidence to show why they can do it, what they have done, how [they did it].
“The scientific world also keeps silent… works together with the Chinese Communist Party, they don’t want people to know his truth.

In May, the social media giant brought in new warning messages on tweets with disputed information about coronavirus.
But it is not clear which of Dr Yan’s posts violated Twitter’s rules.
It comes as more than 29.65 million coronavirus cases have been confirmed worldwide, according to a Reuter’s tally.
The global death toll stands at 934,885.
The first cases of the virus were identified in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019.
The disease is widely thought to have started at a wet market, jumping from animals to humans.
Speaking in May, top US health official Anthony Fauci dismissed claims coronavirus was made in a lab.
The director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases told National Geographic: “If you look at the evolution of the virus in bats and what’s out there now, [scientific evidence] is very, very strongly leaning toward this could not have been artificially or deliberately manipulated.”
