Irv Gotti Explains How He Tried To Blackball 50 Cent Before The Rapper Signed With Eminem And Dr. Dre

50 Cent fans know he has garnered a reputation for himself over the years as someone who refuses to let a beef die. Hot New Hip Hop reported today that during a new interview, Irv Gotti shared how he had once blackballed 50 Cent from the industry before he became a superstar.

During a chat with Brian “B High” Hightower, Irv touched on the time when he had 50 Cent barred from the scene in his city – at least until he signed a deal with Eminem and Dr. Dre. Gotti claimed he had 50 Cent “blocked,” however, Curtis Jackson managed to strike a life-changing deal with Eminem and Dr. Dre.

At that time, Gotti explained, he was one of the biggest stars in the industry, and labels would call him regularly. They would say they were interested in working with 50 Cent, and he would tell them that if they worked with the Power star, they could forget about working with Gotti.

In response, the labels would almost always rescind on their potential collaborations with 50 Cent, opting instead to continue a working relationship with Gotti.

Gotti went on to say that it was a mistake because, in the end, he blocked 50 Cent into one of the best situations a rapper could ever find themselves in.

According to Hot New Hip Hop, 50 Cent recently came out to comment on how he was treated when he was first rising in the scene. He claimed that not everyone knows why he acts the way he acts, but there is a method to his madness.

The rapper explained how there are so many people who are trying to bring you down, instead of working “on their own s**t.” As it was noted above, 50 Cent has fostered a reputation for himself as someone who loves to excoriate his cohorts in the industry.

He’s perhaps most famous for his decades-long feud with Ja Rule, which has persisted in the streets but also on social media, especially after Rule found himself involved in the doomed Fyre Festival.
