Chris Evans: Virgin Radio host admits to ‘tearing up’ on-air after emotional moment

Chris Evans, 54, has always been a sucker for a sweet story, especially when it involves parents cherishing their children. The radio host often tells listeners all about his own kids and what they get up to on a daily basis; a proud dad to say the least.

Not long ago he teared up while telling listeners about his son Noah’s charity initiative in the height of the coronavirus pandemic, where he raised over £100,000 for NHS charities by camping in their back garden.

So when a listener text in with a sweet happy birthday shoutout for their little girl, he almost knew the water works were coming.

“Please can you give my little girl a membership to the [Good Morning Chris] Club this morning,” he began to repeat the message to listeners.

“Without this little one and the amazing home birth I had six years ago today, I would not be training to be a midwife and my sister would not have been a paramedic.”

“Don’t analyse it, does it sound alright or not?”

In the end he took it to a vote and wasn’t impressed when one team member didn’t agree.

“Gareth you can’t abstain!” he exclaimed.

“Such a BBC thing to do. You’re not there anymore!”
