Three rivals BT and Virgin Media with a new broadband plan, just beware of one catch

If you’re looking to switch from your current broadband supplier, Three Mobile has launched a new plan which sounds pretty enticing. The UK mobile network’s new option, which not only includes a lightning-fast connection but also a free Apple TV 4K set-top box with full access to the Apple TV+ video on-demand service (the iPhone manufacturer’s Netflix rival).

Apple TV+ allows users to stream a numbers of popular and award-winning shows, such as The Morning Show, Defending Jacob, and Central Park for a £4.99 monthly fee.

The broadband plan from Three costs £34 a month, with the network also boasting that consumers could see speeds of up to 200Mbps — that’s around five times faster than the UK broadband average.

That price is pretty good value, especially as it includes access to a shiny new Apple TV box and access to all of those online shows. However, before you get too excited it’s worth noting that Three Mobile’s fast broadband speeds are beamed to your home via its 5G data network.

Three is working hard to roll out this next-generation service to more parts of the UK but, right now, it’s only available in very limited areas, such as London, Leeds, Manchester and Derby.

If there’s no 5G in your area you’ll then be switched over to Three’s 4G network which is nowhere near as fast. And if you’re looking to use the Wi-Fi network to binge shows and movies …4G speeds probably won’t be enough to keep the whole family ticking along without some serious buffering.

If you think you can access Three’s 5G signal, then you have until September 17 to take advantage of this offer.

News of this Three deal with Apple comes as EE has also announced a new iPhone contract for its customers. Its so-called Full Works Plan not only offers unlimited data but also full access to three of Apple’s most popular subscription services.

Those signing up will get instant access to Apple Music, Apple TV+ and the Apple Arcade gaming platform for one monthly price. The Full Works Plan for iPhone customers also have the option to select BT Sport Ultimate app access as well.

So how much will this cost you? Well, like most things from EE it’s not exactly cheap.

Those buying the iPhone XR on the Full Works Plan will need to cough up £67 per month, whilst the iPhone 11 Pro will set you back £77 a month.
