Sergio Perez returns for Racing Point at Spanish Grand Prix as Nico Hulkenberg drops out

Racing Point are appealing the punishment, which saw them fined £355,000 (€400,000) and have 15 points docked from their tally in the World Constructors’ Championship.

Renault and Ferrari, meanwhile, are appealing the penalty due to its perceived leniency.

McLaren and Williams had been planning their own respective appeals but this week opted against taking any action.

Racing Point currently sit fifth in the constructors’ standings, with Stroll and Perez seventh and eighth respectively in the drivers’ stakes.

Their best result of the new campaign came in Hungary, with Stroll and Perez finishing in fourth and seventh respectively at the Hungaroring.

Much is expected of Racing Point this season with their RP20 car modelled on the W10 which helped Lewis Hamilton claim his sixth World Drivers’ Championship title last year.
