Weight loss: Emmerdale star Lisa Riley shed a staggering 12 stone with diet plan change

Lisa Riley, 44, is well known as a panellist on Loose Women and for starring in ITV’s Emmerdale. The star has spoken about her weight loss transformation in the past.

Those who take part in the show train six days a week, which can rise to seven days as the weeks progress.

The intense training regime helped her kick start her weight loss transformation, but it was adjusting her diet plan that made the biggest difference.

What diet plan did she use?

Lisa explained she would fill up on unhealthy treats before she slimmed down to a trim size 12.

DON’T MISS

“I had made myself fat by gorging on bread, crisps, crumpets and red wine,” she told the Mirror.

“Once I accepted responsibility for my health, weight and lifestyle it made it easier to take control. You don’t have to have a starter, main and pudding.

“If you are doing that you are eating too much.”

The Emmerdale favourite cut pasta out of her diet and focused on eating low-carb meals and “zero rubbish”.

Instead of unhealthy snacks, she will tuck into healthier foods and will always try to carry fruit with her.

Lisa sped up her transformation results by cutting out booze altogether.

Earlier this year, she told Instagram users it had been nearly five years since her last drink.

Lisa explained eating out of a bowl helped her with portion control and she will aim to exercise for at least 30 minutes a day.

The soap star also released a diet book in 2017, which is called The Honesty Diet.

In the book the actor credits her weight loss to low-carb meals and being completely honest with herself about what she eats.

Over the years, she has shared updates on her healthy meals and workouts on social media.

In one Instagram post during the coronavirus lockdown, Lisa explained she had been following online workouts from the fitness guru Joe Wicks.
