Ferne McCann on ‘embarrassing’ This Morning moment with Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes

Former TOWIE star Ferne McCann, 29, has revealed she was “squirming a little bit” while speaking to Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes about her prolapsed bladder on This Morning. The television personality, who has appeared on the ITV programme as a showbiz reporter, explained that although she describes herself as an “open book” she found it difficult to open up about the personal issue on live TV.

Ferne talked to the presenters about having a leaking bladder after giving birth to her baby daughter, Sunday, in October 2017.

Reflecting on the moment in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk about launching the Pelvic Power workout by Always Discreet, Ferne said: “I think I’ve always been quite honest with experiences that I’ve gone through, especially having a reality show, and day to day I’m an open book.

“So when you go through something, why not use your platform to open the conversations.”

She continued: “I’m not going to lie, it was embarrassing.

“It’s not a nice thing to talk about, but once you get over that, you kind of figure out why you’re opening the conversation when you start to talk to others.

“I always say this about bladder leaks, it’s common, but it’s not normal, so these taboo conversations centred around women’s health are super important and it’s good to open the conversation.

“Even if it’s on live TV and you’re squirming a little bit, pardon the pun, but now I’ve spoken so much about the pelvic floor area and this is the second time I’ve worked with Always Discreet, so it’s just my second language now, it becomes less awkward.”

During her appearance on This Morning last year, Ferne candidly told Eamonn and Ruth about how she used to believe incontinence mainly affected the elderly and that she felt “embarrassed” about wetting herself.

She also revealed that when damaged through childbirth, the menopause or pregnancy, the hammock loosens and the organs above prolapse down.

Due to her experience with bladder leaks, Ferne has got involved in launching a pelvic floor workout with Always Discreet, which has been developed by a personal trainer and in partnership with a Pelvic Health Sports Physiotherapist.

Speaking about the exciting project, the former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star said: “I’m really excited to be working with Always Discreet again, this is the second thing I’ve done with them.

“I’m working with them to launch the Pelvic Power by Always Discreet, so it’s basically a series of live workouts, which are at 8am starting on my birthday, which is crazy, on my 30th, which is a poignant age, so what a way to celebrate!

“But that’s what I’m all about, I want to help other women and especially if you’ve gone through something personally yourself.

“These workouts are designed to encourage women to get squeezing and also to simplify it and make it easier for them.”

Ferne continued: “It’s actually going to be on my brand new platform Embodiment, which I’m buzzing about, so that’s all launching together, which is super great.

“It’s exercises that are going to strengthen your pelvic floor, so you’re constantly going to be squeezing and tightening.”

Always Discreet has partnered with Ferne McCann to launch Pelvic Power by Always Discreet, a free pelvic floor workout series that will be live on www.embodyment.co.uk every Thursday throughout August at 8am.
