Man Utd player ratings vs LASK: Romero, Lingard and Mata shine in Europa League win

Manchester United were far from their best against LASK. But they won the game with goals from Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial cancelling out a screamer from Philipp Wiesinger. Express Sport will now rate and slate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s after the Europa League tie.

Sergio Romero – 9

Is there a better backup goalkeeper in world football? The United star made a series of good saves and was unlucky with Wiesinger’s strike, which he could do nothing about.

Tim Fosu-Mensah – 6

Solid, but unspectacular. Won’t be ousting Aaron Wan-Bissaka from the right-back slot anytime soon.

Harry Maguire – 6

Brought composure and solidarity to the United backline on a night where the Red Devils had precious little to do. And did precious little.

Eric Bailly – 6

Like Maguire, was calm and composed. Fans will still hope there’s a future for him at the club amid years of injury problems.

Brandon Williams – 7

Signed a new contract before the game and it’s easy to see why. Should provide strong competition for Luke Shaw over the coming years.

Made his debut late on and will be happy with the win.
